Shamrock Thoroughbreds are offering an opportunity to become involved in the fun and enjoyment of racehorse ownership through the syndication of Excellent Believe. Excellent Believe is a 4yo gelding by Make Believe out of the Excellent Believe is a 4yo gelding by Make Believe out of the Listed placed dam Lambeth Walk and this highly talented and very consistent Stakes performer is currently rated 99. He is a lightly raced horse with 3 wins from only 11 career starts to date and was rated as high as 108 earlier this year. His career best effort came when finishing second in the Group 3 Superior Mile at Haydock in September 2025, achieving a Racing Post Rating of 111. The form of that race has worked out particularly well with the winner Zeus Olympios recently winning the Group 2 Summer Mile Stakes and finishing 3rd in the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes in 2026.
He is a horse that syndicate manager Stephen Thorne believes “There could be a big day in this horse and he looks well handicapped to land a big pot based on the form lines of his recent performances. We plan to target the €100,000 Irish Cambridgeshire at the Curragh in late August and the €150,000 Sovereign Path Handicap at Leopardstown on Irish Champions Weekend in mid September.”

The main reason for purchasing a share in Excellent Believe is to get involved with a high class Stakes performer who has the ability to win a valuable premier handicap this year and compete in Stakes races thereafter. The horse will go into training with Stephen The horse will go into training with Stephen Thorne in Dunboyne, Co. Meath. Stephen won the 2024/2025 All Weather Trainers’ Championship only 5 months after taking out his trainers licence and only 10 Irish flat trainers had more winners in 2025, boasting an impressive 18% win strike rate in his first full year as a racehorse trainer.
The syndicate will be divided into 40 shares of 2.5% each and each shareholder can buy as many shares up to a maximum of 30% or 12 shares. Excellent Believe will race under the name of Shamrock Thoroughbreds and a WhatsApp Group will be setup to enhance communication purposes between the syndicate manager Stephen Thorne and each of the 40 shareholders.
The plan with Excellent Believe is to give him a short break with the aim of putting him back into full training in early August and preparing him for the €100,000 Irish Cambridgeshire at the Curragh in late August and the €150,000 Sovereign Path Handicap on Irish Champions Weekend at Leopardstown in mid September.
Each shareholder will receive a statement of accounts at the end of the 12-month term and any prizemoney earned will be divided among each shareholder at the end of the term, the 31st July 2027.
