Far From Dandy

Far From Dandy

Shamrock Thoroughbreds are offering an opportunity to become involved in the fun and enjoyment of racehorse ownership through the syndication of Far From Dandy.
Far From Dandy is a 3yo gelding by Far Above who was purchased privately from previous owners Middleham Park Racing. He is a lightly raced individual and is a very consistent performer having won or placed on 4 of his 8 career starts to date. He is currently rated 78 and looks very well handicapped based on his impressive work at home where he would work to a rating of 90+. He has recently been castrated which we hope will bring out further improvement in him as well.
He is a horse that trainer Stephen Thorne believes “Is well handicapped based on his work at home and we are hoping he will develop into a premier handicap type horse next year. He operates best on good and soft ground over a mile and he should be well suited to the All-Weather surface at Dundalk this Autumn/Winter before targeting some valuable handicaps on turf in 2026. He is a very good looking individual with plenty of size and strength and he vetted very cleanly. He will be sure to give his new shareholders a lot of fun over the next 12 months”.

WHY INVEST

The main reason for purchasing a share in Far From Dandy is to become involved with a very genuine performer who is well handicapped off his current rating of 78 based on his impressive work at home. The horse will go into training with Stephen Thorne, Dunboyne, Co. Meath. Stephen won the 2024/2025 All-Weather Trainers’ Championship only 5 months after taking out his trainers license and is currently operating at an 18% win strike rate in 2025.

HOW IT WORKS

The syndicate will be divided into 20 shares of 5% each and each shareholder can buy as many shares up to a maximum of 30% or 6 shares. Far From Dandy will race under the name of Shamrock Thoroughbreds and will be put into training with Stephen Thorne, Dunboyne, Co. Meath. A WhatsApp Group will be setup to enhance communication purposes between the syndicate manager Stephen Thorne and each of the 20 shareholders.

PLAN

The current plan with Far From Dandy is to give him a months break before preparing him for the 0-80 mile handicap at Dundalk on October 31st. He will be campaigned throughout the Winter months at Dundalk and he may develop into an All-Weather Championships candidate at Newcastle or Lingfield next spring.

DIVIDENDS AND AGM

Each shareholder will receive a statement of accounts at the end of the 12-month term and any prizemoney earned will be divided among each shareholder at the end of the term, 31st September 2026.
There will be a Shareholder’s discussion in early September 2026 to decide if the horse is sold via public auction or put back into training for another 6 or 12-month period.
