Son Of Beauty wins at Dundalk for Thorne and Holohan
Son Of Beauty returned to winning form at Dundalk on 30 October, taking the one-mile handicap for Stephen Thorne with Reese Holohan in the saddle. The 7/1 winner prevailed in a tight finish, with Daler second and Gavoo third.
Holohan had to wait for an opening as the gelding was short of room approaching the final furlong. A switch to the right gave him space to challenge, and Son Of Beauty finished strongly to win by a head, with another head separating the placed horses. The result brought Holohan's season tally to 25 winners.
The three-year-old son of Nando Parrado had already won a maiden over this course and distance in March. Thorne explained that breaks during the season had allowed the big-framed horse time to develop. With relatively few starts behind him, the trainer hopes a carefully managed winter campaign at Dundalk will bring further improvement.
