Skontonovski won for the third time this season for owners Mark Devlin & friends by winning Division 1 of the BetVictor Proud To Support Racing Handicap under Ronan Whelan at Dundalk on Friday.
A £6,500 purchase from the Tattersalls July Sale from the Richard Spencer yard, the 4yo Harbour Watch gelding was held up early on but took closer order 2 furlongs out when Ronan pushed him out entering the final furlong to lead close home to win comfortably from the James McAuley trained Caesar’s Comet
Speaking afterwards, Ado said “we ran him on soft ground at Bellewstown and he probably just didn’t handle it. We gave him a week off and freshened him up.
He was very impressive the last day we ran him here and when he was still in this grade we thought we’d try it once more. He quickened up lovely and he’s probably just a step above these horses.
Hopefully the handicapper won’t be too hard on him and we’ll tip away here for the winter. He’s improving all the time.”
