Politicise came home best in the finale at Gowran Park yesterday on rain softened ground to win comfortably by two lengths under apprentice title seeking Gavin Ryan. It was a very good performance from the 4yo son of Camelot and this well bred gelding will now be aimed at the valuable November Handicap at Naas next month.

“I was surprised how well he handled the heavy conditions today but Gavin commented that he travelled well the whole way. We will now look at the November Handicap. He might not be high enough with his rating but that’s where we’ll aim now”, remarked a delighted Ado McGuinness.

“He has been on the go all year and he will have a well earned winter break soon with the aim of targeting all the big handicap hurdles next spring and summer including the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and the Galway Hurdle. We can dream of those big days next year. He was a weak horse last year but he has matured mentally and strengthened physically and that’s where the improvement has come from”, remarked McGuinness.

This was another winner for Dooley Thoroughbreds and Shamrock Thoroughbreds who have enjoyed a fine season with big race results at most of the major festival meetings in 2020.

This was another well sourced animal from the horse in training sales at Tattersalls by Shamrock Thoroughbreds.
